The Evanston Environmental Association is an all-volunteer organization; we have no staff. Consequently, the EEA Board of Directors is a working board, and every member voluntarily takes on specific responsibilities to ensure the organization thrives.
The Evanston Environmental Association Board of Directors is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill its President position. The President, like all EEA board member positions, is a volunteer role. The main focus of this position is to provide strong leadership, strategic vision, and oversight for the entire organization, ensuring the EEA effectively supports the Evanston Ecology Center and promotes environmental awareness within the communityLeadership & Governance
Provide overall leadership and direction to the Board of Directors and the organization.
Preside over all Board meetings, ensuring they are productive and adhere to the bylaws.
Serve as the primary public representative and spokesperson for the EEA.
Ensure the Board fulfills its legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
Foster a collaborative and engaged environment among Board members.
Strategic Planning & Vision
Lead the development and implementation of the EEA's strategic plan in collaboration with the Board.
Ensure the EEA's activities align with its mission and goals.
Identify opportunities for the EEA to grow its impact and reach within the Evanston community.
Oversight & Management
Work closely with all Board leads (e.g., Fund Development, Membership, Communications, Treasurer) to monitor progress on their respective goals and initiatives.
Oversee the effective functioning of all committees and ensure their alignment with organizational objectives.
Support efforts to recruit, onboard, and retain engaged Board members.
Address any organizational challenges or opportunities as they arise, seeking Board input and approval as necessary.
Community & Stakeholder Relations
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Evanston Ecology Center staff, City of Evanston officials, community partners, and donors.
Promote the EEA's mission and activities within the community.
The President serves a two-year term (at the end of which the Vice President transitions to the role of the President). We are looking for a highly responsible, motivated individual with proven leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a deep commitment to environmental causes. Experience in non-profit governance, strategic planning, and community engagement is highly desirable.
