Description

With wispy, arching leaf blades and a lovely mounding appearance this sedge is excellent for difficult, dry shady areas and it can be grown to cover larger areas for a grassy textured area. The unique flower spikes in late spring may be green, brown or tan, with a distinct white margin. This is an excellent sedge for difficult dry shaded areas. It tolerates dry soil conditions better than most species of Carex. Will grow in full sun. Plants will slowly spread by rhizomes and will self-seed in optimum growing conditions. This plant grows well in the shade of Arborvitaes and looks lovely in a border. Bloom time: Spring. Light: Shade to part sun Soil: sandy or clay soil Moisture: dry to medium, well-drained Info courtesy of missourbotanicalgarden.org and photo courtesy of luriegardens.org
