Description
This charming shrub can be found in wet to dry sand prairies, primarily around lakes. It is listed as endangered in Illinois. It has woody lower branches, a mounding habit, and narrow leaves. It creates a quite a cloud of flowers above its foliage in the late summer. It can be found with Artemsisa campestris, Coreopsis lanceolata, and Schizachyrium scoparium. It is toxic to farm animals with white fur.
