Description
Suited in formal or natural gardens, Purple Prairie Clover offers cone-shaped purple blossoms accented with bright orange that are beloved by pollinators, including the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee. A legume high in nutrients, it is important food for birds and the larval host for bees and two butterflies, the Dogface Sulphur and Reakirt’s Blue butterfly. A protein source for herbivores, rabbits love it, so it needs caging. The delicate lacy foliage belies its deep tap root and hardy nature.
