Description
Purple poppy mallow provides nectar from deep magenta cup-like flowers. It is also a host plant to pollinators, including the Checkered Skipper. Its roots have been used as emergency food by Native Americans. It may go dormant after blooming. A wildflower just west and south of Illinois, it has naturalized in the state. Rabbit caging is encouraged.
